WAITING
As the reigns of destiny seem to slip from me
Or as they seem to serenade to and from
And I start to realise that what I hide could be
A clock ticking with a sure tip-toe
And when my time suddenly appears to fly
As hopefully as it makes longevity smile
Or when a knock in the head throbs without end
Would I know then that destiny lies not far ahead?
Sometimes the clouds of doubt may seem to gleam
Then the tint of doubt shadows you in a silver realm
And before you have crossed your built-up bridge
Life itself can hold you in its prison grips
But can I freeze time or halt the shining sun?
When time laughs at the laid out plans
Or can a man learn how to believe
If destiny denied that he must live?
And would waiting matter if destiny is a number?
Or a one measure planned to be remembered?
Because then we would accomplish life’s gains
Long before we have been called all our names
