TEMPTATION, BREAKING FREE
Suddenly they yank me,
Clank me!
Stamp me!
Clamp me with cold iron
Bank me in steel pylons.
Suddenly I am a gagged minion
A bird caged in crude oblivion
Suddenly they clamp me,
Stab me!
Bind me!
Blind me!
Refuse and refute me!
Rebuke me!
Invoke a fist within me!
But suddenly I break free…
But it is nothing but a day dream
For I have not paid my full fee
Is this is the ultimate must-see?
To break free?
To seek the uncrossed bridge?
To fight your own liege?
To break free?
To bleach fear?
But suddenly I yank free…
Break free
Bleak burning tree
It is only a dream tree
Heavenly burning tree
Imagined fiery realm
It is only a dream tree
A half made cup of tea
Then suddenly they clamp me
Shut me!
Cut me!
Flog me down!
Uncrown my head crown
Even before I can run up and down
Even before it is all done
Suddenly they badge me
Hedge me!
Pledge me!
‘Tell the truth…’
They force me
‘Tell the truth…’
They hose me
Suddenly I break free!!
But they hold me
Tie me!
Haul and maul me!
Batter and badger me!
Kith and kin all wager for me
Plinth and spine they break me
Kill or be killed they warn me
Then suddenly I break free…
But it is only a dream plea
A dead pea in a green pod
A bullfrog in a waterless pond
A lion in a tiger ruled forestland
For today I shall never see the sun’s end
I cannot always run from my life’s bitter fiend
I shall not see the sun on my beaten face
Nor shall I hear the wind in this forgotten place
I shall not be free in my begotten land
I shall not be free
I will never break free…
