FUTURE TENSE
In time,
When things erase,
From harsh memory
And in time,
If all beings parade,
Their sad but true stories
Half truths, tardy whims
Phantoms that still haunt them in dead of crimson night
In that time, reason and fate might unite
Fate and freedom might meet
In that time, I will smile at the gods then
Gods of my fore-fathers and then
Begin to tell of old times when rocks were soft
When sands of time glistened aloft,
When rivers flowed with maidens of prosperity
But that is in time,
For now is only now
What is how has always been how
For now,
When future suddenly meets past,
It is sad brevity
For when hope casts a light for all fallen cadres
That time will get me my brothers’ and all others
Back to that future
To the soft rocks
And tell-tale jokes
To the life we used to have before
The wings we used to fly with before
But that is in time
That is only in time…
